How to apply to UCLA?

An applicant may apply for admission as a freshman or as a transfer student. UCLA only accepts transfer applicants who will have attained junior level standing by the time they matriculate. (Junior level: 60-86 semester units or 90-130 quarter units.)

You are considered a freshman applicant for admission purposes if: you are still in high school, or you have graduated from high school but have not enrolled in a regular session at any college or university. If you plan to attend a college summer session immediately after graduating from high school or have completed college work while in high school, the University still considers you a freshman applicant.

You are a transfer applicant if you graduated from high school and enrolled in a regular session at any college or university since your high school graduation. You may not disregard your college record and apply as a freshman.

Admission to UCLA is highly selective, as we receive far more applications from qualified students than we can accommodate. We also recommend that you discuss your academic program with your high school or college counselor.

Application filing periods:

Fall Quarter: November 1 - 30 of the previous year.

Winter Quarter: UCLA will no longer be able to accept new applicants for Winter Quarter for Letters and Science applicants.

Spring Quarter: UCLA will no longer be able to accept new applicants for Spring Quarter.

The Traditional Way:
•  If you are a current high school student in California, you can obtain a copy of the UC Undergraduate Application for Admission and Scholarships from your academic counselor.
•  Other California residents can obtain an application from a local UC campus or community college counseling office.
