Charles Corbató (BA ‘54, Geophysics; PhD ‘60, Geology)
Charles was not a member of the undergraduate class, but was the graduate student
teaching assistant for the Summer Field Class of 1960. He is now retired, but
most recently served the Ohio Board of Regents in a variety of capacities,
primarily related to Internet Information Services (1995-99), and administered the
State Postsecondary Review Entity (SPRE) program for the State of Ohio until the
program’s termination in September, 1995. Previously was Associate Provost for
Administration, Office of Academic Affairs (1987-92), Professor of Geological
Sciences (1969-92), Chairman of the Department of Geology and Mineralogy (1972-80),
and Associate Professor of Geology (1966-69), all at The Ohio State University;
and Assistant Professor of Geology, (1960-66) at UCLA.

Donald Ellis (AB ‘61, Petroleum Geology)
Matriculated to UCLA from service in the US Army . . . joined Pacific Oil Well
Logging, a petroleum exploration firm, and eventually bought the company . . .
has traveled extensively to places like Australia, Northern Ireland, and all
over Southeast Asia, both in the army and later as a geologist . . . still
active as a registered geologist in California doing petroleum exploration.
Leonard Ettinger (Economic Geology)
Earned grad degrees in mining and law . . . practiced as a patent attorney . . . author of an undetermined paperback book on rocks and minerals.
