UCLA NROTC . . . completed PhD at UCSB (‘70, Mineral deposits, Metallogenesis, bedrock geology, and tectonics of the central Sierra Nevada, California, Stillwater igneous complex, Montana, eastern Alaska, the Russian Far East, and Northeast Asia) . . . Line Officer, US Navy (1961-1965) . . . Associate Professor of Geology at California State University, Fresno (1970-1976) . . . Research Geologist, USGS since 1970 . . . field studies have slowly migrated from the central Sierra Nevada to Alaska to the Russian Far East, and farther west . . . leader: Mineral Resources and Metallogenesis of Northeast Asia . . . currently Regional Coordinator for Northeast Eurasia for the Global Mineral Resource Assessment Project.

Larry Patzkowski (AB ‘61)

Worked for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company . . . believed never to have practiced as a geologist.

Gordon Pine (AB ‘61)

Went on for his PhD in geology at the University of Arizona . . . spent about 20 years working for several companies in metals exploration . . . most recently a geologist for the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service.
