Earth and Space Sciences Colloquia |
 |
General Speaker Information
The Earth and Space Sciences Department is located in the Geology
Building on the UCLA campus. Colloquia are scheduled weekly on
Thursdays, and run from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a few minutes left at
the end for questions. The audience is typically very broad, reflecting
the department itself, with students and faculty from many disciplines
including geologists, cosmochemists, geochemists, seismologists, mineral physicists,
geodynamicists, space physicists, paleontologists, etc.
If you are driving to UCLA
Reserved parking is available in UCLA lot 2, which is directly across
from the Geology Building. Go to the parking kiosk located near the
UCLA entrance at Westholme and Hilgard (see maps below). Tell the
attendant your name and that the Earth and Space Sciences Department
has reserved parking for you and they will give you a permit and
entrance card.
Miscellaneous
Other than lunch, dinner, and the colloquium itself, much of the day can
be spent visiting with members of the department. If you would like to
meet with someone in particular please let us know so that we can
schedule a meeting.
Please let us know when you plan to arrive so that we can make a
schedule for you.
If you wish to skip lunch, dinner, or meeting with department
members, please let us know. In lieu of (or in addition to, if desired)
dinner, a post-talk cocktail hour can be arranged.
To be reimbursed for mileage please log your mileage and record your
